The Universal Design Project involved designing an over-55 condominium complex for aging adults in Greenville, NC. We were asked to research universal design and incorporate the design strategies learned into our condos. The assignment also included designing the complex itself, including floor plans and exterior massing designs. Pat and Fran, both in their early 60’s, were our clients for the design of one particular unit of the complex.  Pat and Fran were downsizing from their 5,000 sq. ft. house in Pittsburgh to an under 2,000 sq. ft. condo. The clients wanted space for their children and grandchildren to come to visit. Below are hand renderings and FF&E of the space designed for the couple.
