barkbox brick + mortar store, fifth avenue, nyc

FIRST BRICK AND MORTAR STORE FOR THE E-COMMERCE BRAND BARKBOX

Focusing on the trend of localization, this concept takes the daily events of a typical Flat Iron District resident and their furry friend and adapts it to the segmentation of the store. There store will be divided into sections based on the actions the consumer and their dog take part in everyday such as eating, playing, wearing, and nesting. Subscribe, Build Your Own Box, Treat Bar, and Home will also be seen based on the brand. These sections also relate directly to the segments of the BarkBox website to create an easy navigational experience for the consumer already accustomed to BarkBox and the website.

The aesthetic of the store will be a modern interpretation of the city streets and shops at and around Madison Square Park, creating and outdoor and indoor feel of space for the consumer and their best friend to experience. The consumer and their furry friend enter the store through a dog house feeling structure with an enlarge scale as to have the consumer enter the store and view the world how their companion does. Walking to the back of the store, and exiting the dog house, the customer will move to the outdoors to the streets of the Flatiron District. The triangular shape of the Flatiron itself is mimicked by the second floor mezzanine and repeated throughout the space. Colored road like pathways line the floor in a similar junction as Fifth avenue and Broadway. The grand idea of the customer journey is to enter the store through the dog house transformed into a dog in Madison Square Park and journey through a spaced designed for the consumer and the dog together. Everything down to the retail fixtures themselves will be designed for the consumer and their dog to use together.

The store will feature daily routine events allowing the consumer to add BarkBox to their own daily routine. Examples of these events include stopping by for a nail trim in Wash, a play session in the Play, or even just to stop by for a quick treat from the treat vending machine.
